Fires

I have heard that ALOT of animals have died, 24 houses and sheds through 67 farms in the bushfires at the Grampians... with approx 1000 fire fighters and air craft..

Today thanks to the freaking hot northly wind ... we (Lara) and other surounding towns have been put on high fire alert....from the fire at the Brisbane Ranges..

oh learnt today... not to go to the beach when its 40+ degrees... I did put sunblock on.. but got burnt..also got a bit of sunstoke.. feeling a bit dry and dizzy at the moment...

This is a pic taken of the fires at Steigletz ..it's a bit smoky here and we according to the CFA report could expect embers too...

Roads have been closed leading to Ballarat/Steigletz and Anakie in under threat. Anakie is only a short distance from here.

HOT HOT HOT

eerrgh don't you hate this heat ... it's been sooo hot here.. I wish I had a themometre to see how hot it is.. we are just gonna have some breakfast and try to beat some of the tourists down to the beach.. I can say 'tourists' now that I live down this way..

Friday was great down at Torquay... there was hardly anyone at the beach... while we were there it started raining... ouch... it felt a little like hail stones..but we hung around until it got a bit dark and started thundering and we could see lightening in the distance..the storm by passed Torquay and Ocean Grove.. Lara and Geelong got a nice down pour..

Yesterday Angie had invited me to Donnas open house...she sells scrap supplies... got to meet Angie and Kass again... met Donna and Jenni (read about Jenni on Angies blog)..and finally got my hands on some of those yummy fancy pants flowers...we don't have them down this end of the world.

anyways..I better get moving ..and I'm going to go the back way..just to avoid some of the tourists....

Sewing Machine

Yay I finally have a sewing machine... but have to get my sister around to show me how to fix the tension on it... the thread from the bobbin keeps getting all tangled and jamming....grrrrrr
The best part is ...it was FREE..

I've still not finished my first cj..still have to do the cover.. soooo norty , bad me . Must do this today ..
I've figured out what I"m doing with my ATCs and just have to find the right pic and print it out.. easy.
Then I will start on my other cj..

The kids have been sleeping outside in the tent for the past 3 nights... it's really odd going to sleep...it feels like the kids are all sleeping over at someones house..it feels empty..

Anniversaries..

what do they mean to you?
Today is our 15th wedding anniversary... I made Mark a card last night fair enough I didn't buy him a pressie...but he didn't even get me a card as usual

We would have gone out for lunch.. (my idea) if I hadn't have had to go to my Mums to do lunch.. but a card would have made my day..

I would like to say sorry to Angie for a comment I wrote on her blog....RE: all the crap that has just gone on, online...

Today we picked up the cockateil (sp) he's 8 weeks old .. trying to figure out a name for him... Mark and I thought Neil...lol... Dave wanted to call it Bam after his favourite skater... so we are going to look on a pet name site after to find something that suits...

Edited to say .. Mark left here last night to go to work... 5 minutes later he was back... with a bunch of flowers...I think he knew how upset I was when I showed him my blog....lol..Men are soooo silly.

Shocked

I read on BB today that someone we'd been chatting too has passed away !! wow ...what a shock...I don't remember reading that she was sick even.. I've never met the woman but after chatting to someone for nearly 2 years you kind of get used to them being there..huh..

Need to go and get my hair cut today and buy some dye... I am soooo grey at the moment..it's terrible..then tonight we are going to Melbourne...its Matthews first birthday already
